My Darling Clementine Smoothie!

Its Friday!  Yaaaaaaaaaay.  Let’s all do the Friday dance.  Shake it!

I’m actually not dancing….Sorry guys! You know one of those days when your recipes just do not work? Yeah, I’m having one of those.

I tried making flaxseed crackers, and I find it rather strange that no one has mentioned the fact that they taste like cod liver oil, times a million.  I have to admit it is taking me back to my childhood, when my parents would give me one of those little squishy pills, and I would bite into it for the millionth time, regretting my decision immediately afterwards,  I don’t know if every time I expected it to change its horrible flavour, or if it was just to test out my teeth strength, maybe it was just that tiny pill explosion in my mouth.  One thing I do know is, that look my parent would give me was priceless,  you know that I think this child might be dumb look, that overpowering frustrated look.  Needless to say I got rid of those crackers and have been trying to air out the house with extreme urgency.

This smoothie on the other  hand, was a great treat.  Nutrient packed and just put a smile on my face.

Green Vitality Smoothie

Everywhere you look you see people talking about drinking lemon water.  I can see why with its none cleansing and vitality effects on the body, its a morning ritual everyone should follow.  This smoothie is based on the lemon water idea, but just with added nutrients, like the lemon peel.    The beautiful yellow lemon peel is often discarded without a second thought, but did you know lemons peels contain more vitamins than lemon juice?  Yes, this little gem that gets used in numerous recipes, is actually really good for you.   The lemon peel is filled with fibre, magnesium, potassium,  calcium, folate and beta-carotene.  This is great way to cleanse and detox your body.

This smoothie gets its vibrant green colour from swiss chard.  This little powerhouse is filled with vitamin K,A and C, as well as a good source of magnesium, iron, potassium and fibre.

I drank this smoothie in the morning right after a workout and felt energized the whole day, my skin felt like it was glowing and I woke up the next morning feeling completely refreshed and wonderful.  This is a morning smoothie that should be in everyone’s morning routine.

Protein Power Smoothie

You know those mornings where you just have no energy and by the end of the day you feel completely drained.  I’ve been having a few of those, it might be because I’m still recovering from a stomach bug, that Carl lovingly gave to me on his birthday…what a keeper, or just the changing season.

That’s how this smoothie got made.  This is a great alternative to coffee and unhealthy choices.  Filled with energy giving protein, vitamin c and antioxidants, this smoothie gives you that wake up call you desperately need without having a crash later on.

Weekend Recap

I love this time of the year, its one of those special holidays were you can be as kitsch as you want to be and no one and I mean NO one can judge you.  All around you can see people getting ready for the Christmas festivities, last minute gift shopping and all the Christmas songs playing on repeat in every shop.

Over the weekend we decided to go try out concious 108 its a vegan cafe that serves amazing vegan food. I tried the blct wrap which had tofu bacon, vegan cheese and salad on it, oh what a treat it was indeed, but for real indulgence we had sweet potato fries with it, it was perfectly spiced with just the right amount of grease to make you go OMG, this is incredible!

So behold my weekend recap in photos.
